FLU

 1 September 2009

A popular talk of the town (城市话题) : FLU. Therefore, I’m going to post about my FLU (Fast Latest Updates). ;)

After my last impromptu entry (as of 1 January 2009), here’s some flash highlights.

  • Being involved more in some film-related projects, as a freelance after given a chance in a feature film last year.
Did Production Assistant (PA), and help out in a Kids Drama (with BigCom).
Have help out as an Art Assistant with an Art Director.
    Doing Movie Screenings with Sinema.
Done some editing jobs with a Production Company, FilmMall
Did some Camera Assistant jobs, with FilmMall too.

Did some jobs, as being editor and PA and kena con on pay.
The company (PokerFace Productions and Kinemat) respectively, conned my pay. What to do? I’m fresh and new then. Learn to be smarter now. 虽然被骗,但我长一智。这就是生活哲学吧!

  • More exciting exposures in the film industry.
Did the most recent subway drama, 星光依旧灿烂 (A Starry Night).
Great and fun working with the Taiwan crews, and great to know them. (Hope to visit them in Taiwan n Shanghai soon, next year).
Good experience, learn a lot new stuffs, and have FUN to drink with them.
  • Get to know more friends. Gain more friends, true friends, great friends.
From my 1st feature film production, and all following production friends.
Thanks for the chances given, Thanks for the supports and Thanks for being my great friends. I love you all.

There are some from the popular site, FaceBook. Who say beware of online friends? But I’m luckily enuff to found some true friends.
Thanks for all your encouragements, Thanks for all the fun and happiness, and Thanks for all helps whenever I need.
You know who you are. 尤其是美女(Uncle 要谢谢你)

And, there’s this kind and nice lady, who have been chatting with me for the past 2 wks. She’s is special and unique. Thanks for being my friend.

Sincerely thanks to all who made an impact in my life, and all the helps rendered, all the supports when I need it most.
    诚心诚意,忠心地感谢所有在我人生中提拔我的朋友,帮助过我的朋友, 还有在我最需要的时候撑我的朋友。.

  • Lost a very beloved close one.
It happen too sudden, and is extreme saddening. This feeling is very hard to describe, very regretful, and I’ll tell everyone to cherish everyone around you. The sadden is in me, but I’m coping well. No worry.
  • Given a chance by a great friend, to experience on documentary (Scene City).
Enjoy myself, with the places we went for shoot. Enjoy working with the crews and casts.

Just back from Kuala Lumpur yesterday, brave myself there alone specially for someone, to relax and hopefully, for 我的幸福.

Juz a gentle reminder.. to all my frenz, fans, and readers!

In the show, the story goes about a TV production company wants to do a story about the 3 girls, REM on their alway surprising activities. Therefore, I am ‘engaged’ to be the cameraman for the production to film the REM action. However, it turns out to be a plot.

Still blur?? Watch it and you’ll understand. haha..

Disclaimer: Depends you are lucky or not, you may or may not see my face on screen. All depends on the director and the cuts. Cheers!

And, if you wondering. I’m recently busy working on this REM project with Big Communications and struggling with my school projects. (PS: I’m still around.. :P )

  • Happy Mo-Valentine’s Day

     14 February 2008

News from LA, Hollywood screenwriters has end their 3-month strike. (more) The strike has ended, will there be more Hollywood film coming up?

However, for now, we have enough movies to watch in this month, Feb. Earlier last week, on Chinese New Year festive season. There are already 3 new movies on screen.

    长江7号
The latest comedy from Stephen Chow, CJ7 is a fantasy tale featuring state of the art visual effects. A poor laborer father (Chow) and his young sons lives are turned upside down when a fascinating and strange new pet enters their world. Amid the resulting comic mayhem, they ultimately learn a poignant lesson about the true nature of family and the things money can’t buy.

    功夫灌篮
Shi-Jie (Jay Chou) is a brilliant martial artist from the Kungfu School. The master of the school adopted him as a baby, when he was found abandoned in the woods. His remarkable kungfu skills stem from his innate intuition and ability to read his opponents moves. One day, he encounters a group of youths playing basketball and shows off how easy it is for him, with his martial arts training, to do a Slam Dunk. Watching him was Chen-Li (Eric Tsang), a shrewd businessman, who decides that he would exploit Shi-Jie to make some money. Under the guise of helping Shi-Jie to find his family, he recruits him to play varsity basketball at the local university.

    老师嫁老大
Ah Long Pte Ltd is a light-hearted black comedy about the triad world and the money-lending business. The movie takes on a humorous and sarcastic treatment on the underworld. It depicts how a young lady, Li Hua (Fann Wong) tries to restructure her money-lending triad into a professional and ‘loving’ triad that stands against the use of violence after she takes over from her triad leader (Richard Low) who retired. Her various restructuring plans (which are no doubt very creative) bring about hilarious results.

Li Hua tired of her mother’s constant nagging to get married, she finally relented and proposed to Mr Fang (Mark Lee), an effeminate dance instructor cum image stylist. Surprised to many and even herself, Mr Fang accepted the proposal. The unusual union, despite the misfits, soon blossom into love.

None of it, I have watched yet. And on this Valentine’s Day, there are 3 more new movie coming on screen.

    Juno
Meet Juno MacGuff (Ellen Page) a confidently frank teenage girl who calls the shots with a nonchalant cool and an effortless attitude as she journeys through an emotional nine-month adventure into adulthood. Quick witted and distinctively unique, Juno walks Dancing Elk High’s halls to her own tune – preferably anything by The Stooges – but underneath her tough no nonsense exterior is just a teenage girl trying to figure it all out.

While most girls at Dancing Elk are updating their MySpace page or shopping at the mall, Juno is a whip-smart Minnesota teen living by her own rules. A typically boring afternoon becomes anything but when Juno decides to have sex with the charmingly unassuming Bleeker (Michael Cera). Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, she and best friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby) hatch a plan to find Junos unborn baby the perfect set of parents courtesy of the local Penny Saver. They set their sights on Mark and Vanessa Loring (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner), an affluent suburban couple who are longing to adopt their first child. Luckily, Juno has the support of her dad and stepmother (J.K. Simmons and Allison Janney). After the initial shock that their daughter has been sexually active with the unlikely virile Bleeker, the family bands together to help Juno. Dad Mac accompanies Juno to size up the prospective adoptive parents to make sure they are not a couple of wing nuts while stepmother Bren provides emotional support as Juno fights the prejudices of underage pregnancy. As Juno moves closer and closer to her due date, the veneer of Mark and Vanessas idyllic life starts to show signs of cracking. While fall becomes winter and winter turns to spring, Junos physical changes mirror her personal growth. With a fearless intellect far removed from the usual teen angst, Juno conquers her problems head-on, displaying a youthful exuberance both smart and unexpected.

    P.S. I Love You
Holly Kennedy (Hilary Swank) is beautiful, smart, and married to the love of her lifea passionate, funny and impetuous Irishman named Gerry (Gerard Butler). So when Gerrys life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. Nobody knows Holly better than Gerry. So its a good thing he planned ahead – by leaving her a list of tasks revealed in 10 monthly messages that are intended to ease her out of grief and transition her to a new life.

    Jumper
Doug Liman (MR. AND MRS. SMITH) directs this adaptation of Steven Gould’s novels about people called “jumpers” who can transport themselves through space and time.

(All intro synopsis and pictures are extracted from GV website.)

lol! I will watched it all. Anyone wanna watch it with me? Or if you are interested, can join me anytime. More will be coming on screen soon in this Feb.

Another nice simple way to celebrate Valentine’s Day – Movierathon.

    ###

I had my 1st movie for year 2008 and an enjoyable time with my ‘wife’, A.

    The Warlord (投名状)

In the year 1850, the suffering of the 430 million Chinese people under the corrupt rule of the Qing dynasty set the stage for the Taiping Rebellion. During the chaos of the decade long civil war, 50 million people died from either hunger or battle.

In the fall of 1870, General Pang (starring Jet Li) stands high atop the city walls fully attired in governor’s robes. Peering down upon the site of his inauguration, he is filled with dreams and ambition. Pang has taken a path of no return; had he chosen differently, he might have been one of the heroes to later overthrow the corrupt Qing imperial regime and establish a new China. He could have changed the course of history…

…But two bandits and a woman have changed the course of his life – helping him achieve his goal, but ultimately causing his demise. The two bandits are his sworn blood brothers: Zhao Er-Hu (starring Andy Lau) and Jiang Wu-Yang (starring by Takeshi Kaneshiro). The woman who comes between them is Zhao’s wife Lian (starring by Xu Jinglei)…

(Credits: The synopis is taken from GV website.)

The story, not bad. Talking about brotherhood, betraying, setting up for fame. The shoot is clear, and u really can see ‘real’ legs and head been ’cut off’. The ending is quite sad, but good for a thinkers. But is just kinda long, and abit draggy in the middle where they talk about military strategy.

    Anyway, worth the watch.

Next to go, National Treasure: Book of Secrets. A MUST watch, cos I like the 1st story of National Treasure.
